Dear Lighthouse of Care
I wanted to write you this letter and express my appreciation. In May 2016, I had to make the hardest decision of my life. My 93 year old mom was suffering with depression and had lost the will to go on. I had to make the choice of removing her from her home and finding a safe, loving place for her because I simply could not help her in the way she needs. I chose to move her to Lighthouse of Care in Arlington, Texas. Over the past 9 months, I have seen such a transformation. My mom has gotten her spunk back and loves it!
My mom has dementia, but your staff are so patient and kind. She stays so active, that while I know she won't get better, I can see she has the quality of life we all want every day. She used to be an amazing cook, but she begun losing weight and no longer even enjoyed her meals. But now, we see her wanting to help cook in small ways and socialize at dinner time. She is enjoying home cooked meals in a family environment. I am just amazed at how well she is doing and how much she loves it there. She has taken up painting again on the beautiful back patio and I know she is happier there then she would be anywhere else. I so enjoy our visits and interactions once again like when I used to visit her at home, for this truly is her home now.
Thank you to the staff who made this all possible!!!
